Are emotions self-fulfilling?

Emotions are not prophecy; neither are they self-fulfilling except we make them. They are not divine instructions voiced out by a deity compelling us to do their bidding.

Failing to recognize this is the reason for the ideological chaos we face as a race in this 21st century.

In the last 50 years, we’ve been hit by a barrage of strange ideas and philosophies that are as powerful as the flood of Noah attempting to wipe away human morality and civilization.

These strange ideas are just as destructive (if not more) as the comets that wiped off the dinosaurs from the surface of the earth.

Recently I saw a video interview where a lady believed that she was a White woman trapped in the body of a Black woman. The interviewer who was obviously dazed and fighting hard to conceal her shock and confusion asked, “How did you know? When did you realise this?”

The lady responded almost immediately, “Since the day I was born. In fact, when I was a baby, I didn’t cry as loudly as a black baby would. As a child, I only made small sounds, similar to those of a White baby.”

At that point, I wondered if she was so self-aware as a baby just out of the womb that she could remember how loud or not-so-loud she cried. I also wondered how she came to the conclusion that crying loud after birth is a trait only the black race is known for.

It baffles me!

It has been said that ideas rule the world, but at this point in human history, we must take a step back and ask ourselves, “Whose ideas actually rule the world?”

Is it the ideas advanced by a select few and amplified by media powerhouses, which hardly have any truthful basis or human utility?

Is it the ideas that make humans act like animals and lose their sense of purpose, identity, and spirituality?

Is it the ideas that exalt emotions above reasoning, basic science, and truth?

I believe that each of us must reach a point where we examine every idea, test every spirit, and only choose what serves the original design God (The Creator) had for us as a people.

This may sound philosophical, but it is simply a collection of thoughts that have been circling in my head for several days.

So, what are you going to do?

Educate yourself on your emotions. Tell yourself how you want to feel. And let the content of your words be based on truth — eternal truths that transcend time and the manipulation of a few.

Smith Wigglesworth, one of the fathers of the Christian faith, often said when he wakes up, he doesn’t say, “Smith, how do you feel today?” Rather, he says, “Smith, today is a great day filled with miracles. We’re going out there to do massive things today.”

Through words, he directly told himself what to feel, do and how his day would go.

So, rather than allowing our emotions to rule our lives, we talk to ourselves in order to respond to something deeper on the inside — purpose, vision, and our life assignment.
