Miracles Don’t Solve Mental Problems

The more I study and dive deep into the field of Neuro Psychology, the more I see that the human mind is like a machine or a computer that can be programmed and reprogrammed.

The other day I was listening to a preacher, and as she began her session that day, she said, “Conditioning is greater than knowledge.”

Many new thoughts began to rush through my mind when she said those words.

“Conditioning is greater than knowledge.”

Conditioning here gives rise to the “mental problems” we suffer from.

(By mental problems I mean, mindsets, beliefs, ideologies, and wrong values that holds us down, preventing us from rising to new levels in life and/or a higher version of ourselves)

Have you wondered why we keep learning and assimilating new information and it everything remains static with no change at all?

It is not because the new information wasn’t powerful enough to cause a transformation, it is because of that 12 letter word — CONDITIONING.

Right from the moment, we exit the womb of our mothers, our brains go into full action helping us make sense of the world. A child grows up and begins to question everything, observing keenly and imbibing the acts he sees.

It’s amazing!

We are being conditioned every day and most of our beliefs were formed from our early years on earth.

I dare to say again that miracles don’t cure mental problems.

Israel just left the land of Egypt after seeing breath-taking-jaw-dropping plagues come upon an entire nation. They plundered Egypt in one day and carted away with gold, silver, and every precious item you can imagine.

Days later, they were sandwiched between the Red Sea and a raging vicious Pharaoh with his chariots coming to violently return them into captivity.

The miracles they experienced before did not come to mind.

What was the first thing they mentioned?

Death!

“We are going to die. Why did you bring us out of Egypt?” They whined and whined until Moses himself began to weep.

The new-found freedom felt like a baby breathing air for the first time. They were not used to it.

The miracle of deliverance hadn’t freed their mind from the bondage of slavery.

No wonder Dr. Myles Munroe could clearly differentiate between Freedom and Deliverance.

For Nigeria, and many parts of the Third World, we only experienced Deliverance from Colonial rule, we were never free. Much like Biblical Israel, we left captivity physically, but mentally, we were still eating the onions and cucumber.

This is why lottery winners win $millions and months down the line, they lose the entire fortune and are back to the state they were before –if not worse.

The miracle of deliverance hadn’t freed their mind from the bondage of slavery.

If a man has been conditioned to live poor and beggarly, no amount of money and bank alerts can delete that mentality of poverty.

Even when he gets the sum, the “Poverty Conditioning” (that mental problem) within will fight him till the money leaves his hand. No wonder it’s said that the fool and his money are soon parted.

Israel again saw the Red Sea part before their eyes. I mean, they walked on bare ground and crossed over to the other side. They watched as Pharaoh and his chariots struggled to thread and swim in the water till they were completely submerged.

What more did they need?

Hmmm…

A whole generation still perished in the Wilderness because of “Unbelief,” the Bible calls it.

But why not?

This is a generation that endured over 400 years of slavery, all they ever knew was to serve Pharaoh and live content.

A Promised Land, a land flowing with Milk and Honey seemed like a pipe dream. They preferred their onions and cucumber.

The great miracles of the 10 plagues, plundering Egypt, crossing the Red Sea, seeing Pharaoh drown was not enough to cure their “Mental Problem.” That slavery mindset.

So, what’s the way out?

It is a transformation of the mind. A RENEWING. The mind is like the coil of a generator. You know, it has so many threads that ring the entire engine block.

Like a skilled mechanic, you are to isolate each of your beliefs about life, marriage, money, relationships, Nigeria, etc. and “rewire” it with new information.

What I am saying here, is not a day’s job. It is an intentional process that must go on every single day.

Expose your mind to messages from your “Promised Land,” continuously envision the “milk and honey” that is abundant in your Promised Land.

You will need to replace your thirst, desire, and hunger for onions and cucumber with the desire for milk and honey. You will need to envision yourself walking in liberty and freedom in your “Promised Land” and begin to loathe the crumbs that Egypt has to offer you.

It is mental rewiring.

You can cure mental problems, not with external appendages but with INSIGHT that comes from knowledge.

So long as a lady believes that “All men are scum” she’ll continue to fall for scum bags.

So long as a man feels that Yahoo Yahoo is the way out, every form of legitimate hustle will feel like burning in hell.

Nigeria will need to go through this mental reformation process for us to arrive at a place of true development.

So long as we think we are enemies of one another, then we cannot progress.

Touch your head right now and say,

“All true change starts from here.”

You can cure mental problems, not with external appendages but with INSIGHT that comes from knowledge.

I hope this inspires someone.
