What is your action ratio?

Take action, little tiny steps that move you forward in the direction you want to go.

What is your action ratio?

This was the question that not-so-courteously greeted me as I opened up an email from Derek Doepker this morning.

Don’t bother about googling him for now, just stick with me for the lesson.

Every word in his email felt like he was talking to me, or should I say tongue-lashing me for not taking as much action as I should.

Maybe you feel like that too.

The big question today is: What is your action ratio compared to your knowledge and research ratio?

Many times, we find ourselves reading, studying, buying books and courses so much that we become a mini-Albert Einstein or semi-Charles Darwin in the process. But rather than having a whole theory of relativity or evolution to show for it, we only have imagination and good intentions of doing something profound someday, sometime.

Maybe this looks like you. Don’t feel bad.

Time and opportunity wait for no man. Even as you read this, you have aged for at least a minute and the time you’ve spent so far today will not be recovered again.

But then, maybe you can buy time. You can redeem the time. You can do what your future self will thank you for.

I may have veered off course a bit writing my thoughts, but the point is:
Take action, little tiny steps that move you forward in the direction you want to go.

For every time I’ve taken a step on my goals (maybe even very late) the feeling of fulfillment that comes from it is second to none.

I remember when I wrote my first book and published it. It went viral. Lives were blessed. Profit was made.

I remember starting my business and seeing the reach it has today. It’s beautiful to see.

Even recently, watching my earnings in my passive income portfolio rise gives me so much joy. I wish I started earlier. But then, I’m happy still.

Maybe when next you are hesitating to take a step on your goals, just remember how you felt about hitting one of your previous goals. Perhaps, that would motivate you to press towards the new goals you have ahead of you.

I’ll end with this quote from Martin Luther King Jr., “If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.”
